Our History

     Cowles & Connell, Inc was established in 1892. The agency operates as a wholesale operation with access to greater than 40 major insurance markets. We represent both admitted and non admitted companies with access to binding authority carriers for the 24-48 hour turnaround as well as the brokerage type account. Larry Clark and Jo Ann Peri are the key owners/officers. They acquired the agency in 1997 and have grown the agency from six million to greater than thirty five million in premium volume. We now operate in multiple states with three offices in CT, NY and MA.

     Cowles & Connell Inc. offers all forms of quality insurance products to our independent Retail Agents. From the hard to place risks to the everyday main street type risks. Cowles And Connell is innovative, professional, and a responsive broker to our clients needs. We consistently strive to achieve strong underwriting growth and profits for our Carriers for which we represent. We continue to deliver the best products and facilities with unparalleled service to our Carriers, Retail Agents and Business Partners. We continue to be a market leader to our respective regions of operations. This has allowed us to partner with various admitted and non-admitted carriers for exclusive programs not available through many other wholesalers. Recognizing and developing long-term relationships have allowed for long-term profitable growth. Our Underwriters have greater that 140 years experience in the excess and surplus lines business. Our insurance professionals have retail, wholesale, and underwriting experience to better handle all aspects of accounts submitted by our partner retail agents. Twenty-four hour turn around will be given to all accounts within our binding authority. Service is our motto and we promise to keep all of our clients informed of our placement process.
